Arts on the Coast: 2022 Outlook

As published in Richmond Hill Neighbors — Looking for something new to do in 2022? Arts on the Coast (AOTC) is Richmond Hill’s one and only art organization, and it is active and vibrant with a lot planned for this year. From quarterly meetings, art shows and gallery exhibits, now is the time to mark your calendars and plan to attend fun, community art events featuring the works of many artists living, working and creating right here in Richmond Hill, Georgia. So let’s break it down:

ARTISTS LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO START: TRY QUARTERLY MEETINGS
AOTC Quarterly meetings are unique to the organization. They provide special opportunities for current as well as potential members to show and discuss their work, regardless of medium — allowing for critique and valuable feedback. If you are an artist, it is so important to surround yourself with like-minded individuals and that is just what these gatherings are for. Quarterly meetings are also open to the general public and are a perfect way to learn and see the AOTC from the inside out.

ARTNITE
There are four ArtNite events scheduled in 2022. These are very cool art shows, well-attended, again, open and free to the general public that not only bring out the best members to present their most current work, but is also a great gathering of local art enthusiasts and supporters. At each event, art show goers can enjoy beautiful local art, food, drinks and live music. They are a perfect start to a local Friday-night, date night in Richmond Hill.

THE ANNUAL EXHIBIT
2022 will mark 7 years that Arts on the Coast has partnered with the Photopoint Gallery to host its crown jewel of art shows — the Annual Exhibit. Year after year, the event has attracted artists from Richmond Hill and beyond including Savannah, Tybee Island, Pooler, Midway, Hinesville, Brunswick, Darien and St. Simons Island. The 2022 show has been appropriately entitled Freestyle, and that’s  just what it will be — free of any restrictions, participating artists have a license to create to their fullest potential. A juried show, it is a must-see event.

THE ESTES GALLERY AT GREAT OAKS BANK
The Estes Gallery, located inside the Great Oaks Bank in Richmond Hill, is the newest of several art venues for the Arts on the Coast. Four events are slated for 2022 with a broad range in subject matter and medium. This gallery is quite elegant and always open to the general public, with receptions held on select shows.
