ARTWORK STATEMENT: In this piece, I capture a quiet moment of connection between two wild horses on Cumberland Island, Georgia. Their bodies rest gently against each other, their heads meeting in a composition that subtly forms the shape of a heart—a reflection of their bond, protection, and unspoken understanding. These horses, descendants of those that have roamed the island for generations, embody both the wild spirit of their environment and the tenderness of companionship. The midday light washes over them, illuminating their presence in the untamed landscape they call home. Through acrylic paint, I explore the contrast between strength and vulnerability, solitude and togetherness. This painting is not just about the horses but about the universal need for connection—an unbreakable thread that ties us all to one another.
