ARTWORK STATEMENT: This piece is inspired by Van Gogh's sunflower painting series. The piece also highlights the inherent narcissistic qualities in human nature. Narcissism is a self-centered personality style characterized as having an excessive preoccupation with oneself and one's own needs, often at the expense of others (wikipedia) The flowers are narcissus flowers and sun flowers featuring human faces with various expressions inside of a vase expressing dissatisfaction at.a fallen petal. The piece is composed of 25 smaller paintings that can be pieced together or mixed for added interactivity.
