2020 Arts on the Coast Annual Exhibit Call For Entries / Artist Requirements

ORGANIZERS
‘SPACE’ - 2020 Arts On The Coast (AOC) Annual Exhibit is organized by the Photopoint Gallery in partnership with the AOC.

ABOUT THE EVENT - THEME
The theme for this years Annual Exhibit is SPACE. Although the theme SPACE was decided upon many months ago, long before the COVID-19 pandemic, SPACE is something that you, as an artist deal with all the time, making it a very appropriate theme for the 2020 show. Interpret SPACE in your very own way - it could be negative space, outer space, cluttered space, white space, open spaces... your space.

AWARDS RECOGNITION
The 2020 Annual Exhibit is a juried event post submission. Certificates of recognition and cash prizes are awarded as following:
• First Place/Best In Show ($100)
• Second Place ($75)
• Third Place ($50)
• Honorable Mention ($25) 
The People’s Choice award will also be awarded, however the 2020 vote will be conducted online. Details about how to vote will be published once the show starts at artsonthecoast.org.

ABOUT THE JUDGING
The 2020 Annual Exhibit judging takes place after the entries are received and hung as a group show. Judges review, critique and select pieces for the previously named awards based on the following criteria:
Design and Composition How well does the piece work as a whole? For example, does it convey unity in subject matter, is it balanced visually, and is the focal point well defined?
Technique/Skill of Construction Based on the tools and medium chosen by the artist, how well did the artist executed the piece?
Presentation Is the work presented in an overall clean and professional manner, and is it properly framed, matted, canvas-wrapped, free of smudges and extraneous marks - unless intended, etc.
Theme How well does the piece relate to the theme of the Annual Exhibit.
Creativity Do you think the artist executed the piece in a creative and unique manner, and is there evidence of creative thought and process?

ARTIST ELIGIBILITY
REQUIREMENTS & AGREEMENT
• Only one, original piece of art per entrant.

• All entries shall not exceed 36 in x 24 in.

• All entries presented for display shall be professional in appearance, with 2-D work framed and matted as necessary for hanging. 
If paintings are not gallery wrapped, they must be framed.

• Multi-paneled entries (triptychs, sets, etc.) shall be reviewed by Photopoint Gallery before it is accepted due to limited gallery space.

• All entries must be ready to hang professionally, preferably with correct end-to-end wiring. Any pieces that need to be wired, or re-wired for hanging by the Photopoint Gallery will result in charge of $25.

• A completed Entry Form, Entry Fee, and Release from Liability Forms (AOC/Photopoint Gallery-Elmgren’s Garden Center) must be received prior to the Call for entries deadline.

• A current Artist Membership level with the Arts on the Coast (AOC) is required.

• The deadline for art entry and submission is Saturday, June 20, 2020 by 5 p.m.

• All artwork entered shall be for sale, unless otherwise agreed. The Photopoint Gallery commission is 30% of the asking price. Please take this into consideration when providing a final published price. Artwork will also be made available for purchase online at photopointgallery.com.

• Artists are also welcome to sell note cards, prints, books, etc. The Photopoint Gallery commission is 30% on these items, please again consider the final published price. They will also be made available for purchase online at photopointgallery.com.

• All pieces shall be picked up from the gallery between September 14-19, 2020 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Any pieces that are not collected by September 19, 2020 become property of the Photopoint Gallery.
