Public Art Commissions – Learn About the Process from One Artist

  • Georgia Coastal Center 305 Fahm Street Savannah Ga 31410 United States (map)

Part 4 of a 4 Part Winter Workshop Series presented by Arc.

Whether you're an artist, arts organization, or community/neighborhood representative this workshop on Public Art is for you. The Public Art application process can be complex and often prevents many talented artists from pursuing projects or being awarded them. Questions having to do with: How might a Public Art project be funded? What is an RFP vs an RFQ? How is the selection process best handled? This workshop, presented by artist and public space designer Jerome Meadows, will begin with a presentation of his own work to demonstrate the inter-relationship of his studio practice to the public art process. This workshop will cover the various steps in applying for a project, including preparing a suitable and effective application package, navigating the selection process, and what to expect should you be awarded the commission. What then are your rights and responsibilities to the artwork once it is completed? A Q&A session shall follow.

Admission for seminars and panel discussions are free to ARC Savannah members (annual membership $20 for artists, $30 for art advocates) or $15 per event for non-members. Pay at the door, or become a member at www.arcsavannah.org/copy-of-join.
