Culinary art is the art of cooking. Culinary artists are responsible for skillfully preparing meals that are as pleasing to the palate as they are to the eye. Increasingly, they are required to have a knowledge of the science of food and an understanding of diet and nutrition. Culinarians, those who work in the culinary arts, are more commonly known as chefs. They work primarily in restaurants, fast food chain store franchises, delicatessens, hospitals and other institutions. From avant-garde flavors to humble meat and potatoes, all are encompassed under the culinary arts. If it tastes as good as it looks, then it’s culinary art.
