<p><span style="color: #000000;">Everyone is encouraged to print copies for use and placement in various locations.  Please help spread the word about our Picnic and hope many of you will be able to attend.  Should you have specific questions regarding the Picnic, please contact Claudia Christiansen, Event Chairman, at 727-4898.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Here is additional information about the Family Picnic:</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> </span></p>

<li><span style="color: #000000;">We have use of the park from 9 am to 9 pm</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">Need members to arrive before picnic time to help set up and stay afterward to help clean up</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">Need members to help by donating a prize for the table decorating contest</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">Visual Artists are asked to bring one piece of artwork to display</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">A representative from each of the AOC groups (music, visual artists, dance, drama, culinary, membership and hospitality) are asked to set up a small display for the event.  If you are a chairman, please coordinate your group&#8217;s display. If you&#8217;re interested in participating please contact the committee chairman or Claudia Christiansen</span></li>

<p>We will be changing out the work at &#8220;<a href="http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&amp;safe=off&amp;rlz=1C1GPCK_enUS394&amp;um=1&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=what's+the+scoop+richmond+hill+georgia&amp;fb=1&amp;gl=us&amp;hq=what's+the+scoop&amp;hnear=Richmond+Hill,+GA&amp;cid=12192290972479760485">What&#8217;s the Scoop</a>&#8221; on <strong>Monday, February 21, 2011</strong>.  Please drop off work between <strong>9:00 am and 10:00 am</strong> that morning.  If you can&#8217;t be there at that time, please arrange for <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Arts-On-The-Coast/182631565316">another AOC member</a> to drop it off for you.</p>
<p>You must be an <strong>Arts on the Coast member</strong> to exhibit in Scoop.</p>
<p>You may bring up to <strong>3 pieces, no larger that 30&#8243; x 40&#8243;, ready to hang with wires on back</strong>.  <strong>All canvases should be framed or gallery wrap</strong>.  Please make sure all work is labeled.  You will need to sign a <a href="http://artsonthecoast.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/scoop-Release-Form-20110217.doc">release form</a> if you have not exhibited at &#8220;Scoop&#8221; in the past.</p>
<p>Several artists sold work this past time during the &#8220;Small Works&#8221; exhibit! Congratulations! We are getting noticed! Please remember that 10% of all sales goes to Andy &amp; Jennifer Foley, the owners.</p>
<p><strong>Visual Arts Meeting</strong></p>
<p>There will be a visual arts meeting at the <a href="http://www.rhcoc.com/">RH Chamber of Commerce</a> on <strong>Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 6:00 &#8211; 8:00 pm.</strong> It is very important the as many <a href="http://artsonthecoast.org/the-arts/visual-arts/">visual artists</a> attend as possible, because we will be planning the calendar for this year&#8217;s events.  We will be needing people to sign up for committees, and want to hear all of your ideas!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Buckhead Community in Richmond Hill will be having a &#8220;Palette &amp; Palate&#8221; Stroll on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 2:00 pm &#8211; 5:00 pm featuring local artists and cuisine. 8 homes will be open with art to view and/or purchase, as well as beverages and appetizers for your tasting. There will be a donation of $10.00 per person, and proceeds from the tour will go towards new equipment for the Buckhead playground.</p>
<p>Tickets and maps are available from the Buckhead social committee or the homeowners on the tour. You may also purchase tickets at the Buckhead Community Center on Rathlin Road the day of the tour. For more information please call 912-704-0808. Buckhead is located 8 miles SE of Richmond Hill on Hwy 144.&#8221;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A new exhibit, &#8220;Small Works for the Holidays&#8221; is now being presented by the Arts on the Coast Visual Artists at &#8220;What&#8217;s the Scoop Cafe&#8221; in Richmond Hill.&#8221;  All of the artwork is done by members, and is 20&#8243; X 20&#8243; or less, and priced no higher than $150.00.  The work includes originals as well as prints, and is both framed and unframed.  This is a great opportunity to purchase affordable artwork done by local artists as Christmas gifts!</p>
<p>The exhibit opened November 29, 2010, and will remain up through the end of the year.  It can be seen during regular restaurant hours.</p>
<p>&#8220;What&#8217;s the Scoop&#8221; has been graciously hosting AOC&#8217;s visual artists since January of 2009.  Artwork is changed every 2 months, allowing the restaurant patrons enjoy an artistic atmosphere while having breakfast or lunch.</p>

<p>The 2010 Fall Exhibit will be judged by Dr. Tom Cato, the Department Head of Art, Music and Theatre at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Dr. Cato has a Doctorate degree in Education from the University of Georgia (1997), a Master&#8217;s in Education in Administration and Supervision from Valdosta State College (1977) and a B.F.A in Painting and Drawing from Valdosta State College (1973). Currently, as the Chair of the Art, Music and Theatre department, he teaches art education and computer art courses. He is a member of the <a href="http://www.naea-reston.org/" target="_blank">National Art Education Association</a>, <a href="http://www.gaea.armstrong.edu/" target="_self">Georgia Art Education Association</a>, the N<a href="http://nasm.arts-accredit.org/" target="_self">ational Association of Schools of Music</a> and the <a href="http://www.gaartsnetwork.org/statedirectory.html" target="_self">Georgia Coalition for the Arts</a>.</p>
<p>All artists are reminded that you need to drop off your artwork on Wednesday, November 10 at the Richmond Hill City Center between 2 and 5 o&#8217;clock. If any artist has narrowed down their selections (max of 3), please e-mail, in advance the:</p>
