Starting this August 10 until September 1, 2010, sea grass basket weaving classes will take place at the Midway Gallery. The classes are scheduled for Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Please be aware, four classes are required to complete your first basket — you simply choose which four days you would like to attend. This is a great opportunity, especially if you are interested in the traditional arts. The class will be instructed by someone from the Sapelo Island Educational Program.
Be sure to sign-up right away as the class size is limited to 5-6 students and cost is $125 per person. The class fee includes all materials required to complete your basket — sea grass, palmettos and bone.
